The most current work explores the intersect of psychology and art. Each painting represents an aspect of the self as these inidivdual moods, mental states and memories which comprise a what we know as the self. The series is based on the concept of the “true self” as written about by D.W. Winnicott. It further explores the idea of the “whole self vs a fragmented self” (Heinz Kohit). More simply each work can be thought of as a side or facet of a prism where the gestalt is composed of many parts.
The oil paintings are influenced by Abstract Expressionism, but in contemporary style. Works on paper transmit landscape, culture and tradition through deconstructed visual language. Please contact me to view more work.
